NEC Corporation has been ranked as the most accurate facial recognition technology in the world in a benchmark test conducted by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In this test, NEC achieved an authentication accuracy rate of 99.88% in “1:N identification”, which includes photos of 12 million different people. The company took first place in three other tests as well, including a test of the effects of aging using photos taken more than 10 years ago.

Since 2009, NEC has consistently been at the top of the world in the “1:N Identification” test, which requires the highest accuracy of any facial recognition benchmark conducted by NIST. This technology has been implemented in approximately 80 airports worldwide for applications such as immigration, customs, boarding procedures and customer service.

Over 1,000 organizations have adopted NEC’s NeoFace Monitor, a system that allows users to log into their devices using facial recognition, improving both security and convenience. Additionally, NEC continues to be a leader in providing facial recognition cloud services with more than one million registered users in Japan.

NEC’s real-world facial recognition technology is used in more than 50 countries and regions around the world. The company’s facial recognition business is an industry leader and has a strong presence in various applications and services.
