Netflix Expands Beyond Streaming Services with New Popcorn Brand and Partnership with Walmart”.

Netflix is expanding into the snack industry with the launch of its new brand of popcorn called Netflix: New Popping. The company has partnered with Popcorn Indiana to offer flavors like “Cult Classic Cheddar Kettle Corn” and “Swoonworthy Cinnamon Kettle Corn,” which will be available at Walmart stores nationwide starting today.

Netflix’s foray into the popcorn market isn’t new, as it follows in the footsteps of AMC Theaters, which announced plans to expand into the snack category in 2021. However, Netflix is taking a different approach by teaming up with Walmart, which has been selling various types of popcorn for a long time.

Popcorn has become a lucrative business for theaters, and special collectible tubs often increase sales. Netflix, on the other hand, has focused on expanding its consumer and live events business to generate revenue outside of streaming services.

In 2021, Netflix launched an online store featuring merchandise from its shows and followed it up with a pop-up store at The Grove in Los Angeles. The company also opened a pop-up restaurant called Netflix Bites in LA, which offers menus prepared by chefs involved in the Netflix program. In addition, Netflix created interactive experiences in various markets based on popular shows such as Bridgerton and Squid Game.

Next year, Netflix will launch its first two Netflix House locations in Texas and Pennsylvania, combining shopping, dining and experiences under one roof in former department store spaces. With a focus on expanding consumer products and live events, these new ventures may also include selling Netflix’s famous popcorn.

Overall, this move by Netflix marks another step towards diversifying its revenue streams beyond streaming services while also tapping into the lucrative snack industry.
