The two largest theme park companies in North America, Six Flags and Cedar Fair, are set to merge, forming a new combined company that will be a major player in the industry. The merger, expected to be completed on Monday, will create an $8 billion company. The new company will operate under the name Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.

Selim Basul, President and CEO of Six Flags, expressed his excitement about the merger. He noted that it offers guests unique and exciting experiences at their parks. Meanwhile, Richard Zimmerman, President and CEO of Cedar Fair, emphasized the importance of the merger in increasing financial flexibility to invest in new rides, attractions and technologies to enhance the guest experience.

Under the new leadership structure, Zimmerman will serve as president and CEO of the combined company while Basul will become executive chairman of the board of directors. The merger brings together dozens of theme parks, water parks and resorts across North America.

Six Flags operates in 11 states as well as Montreal and Mexico City while Cedar Fair has locations in nine states and Toronto area. Cedar Fair also offers lodging options including RV sites and hotels. Guests from both companies can expect enhancements and improvements to their respective parks following the merger ensuring that each visit is more exciting than ever before.
