The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) are hosting a workshop on April 4th and 5th that will focus on the impact of technology and digital media on the development and mental well-being of children and adolescents.

The two-day event, held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, will bring together experts in technology, child development, and mental health to lead discussions on the positive and negative effects of technology on young minds. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore current research findings and discuss future directions in the field.

Sponsored by the Division of Translational Research of the National Institute of Mental Health and NICHD, the workshop is open to both the scientific community and the general public. Registration is required to participate in this free event.

During the workshop, experts will discuss how technology has changed the way children interact with each other, as well as how it affects their self-esteem, sleep patterns, and academic performance. They will also examine the potential risks associated with excessive screen time, such as addiction, cyberbullying, and social isolation.

The workshop aims to provide attendees with a better understanding of how technology affects children’s development and mental health. It is an opportunity for them to learn about current research findings in this area and discuss future directions in the field. By attending this workshop, attendees can gain valuable insights into how they can use technology in a responsible way that promotes children’s well-being.
