In preparation for the upcoming season, the Commanders began their offseason program by adding a familiar face to their lineup. On Tuesday, it was announced that linebacker Mikal Walker had signed a contract with the franchise.

Walker previously played for the Falcons as a 2020 fourth-round pick during Dan Quinn’s tenure as head coach. Over his first three seasons, Walker appeared in 49 games with 20 starts before being waived by Atlanta last August. After stints in Chicago and Las Vegas, Walker signed with Pittsburgh midway through the 2023 season. During his time with the Steelers, he appeared in eight games with five starts, recording 33 total tackles with two losses. In addition, Walker showed his versatility by recording two pass defenses and an interception.

The Commanders are excited to have Walker join their team and bring valuable experience and skills to their lineup. His familiarity with Coach Quinn should help him adapt quickly to the team and make a positive impact on the defense during the upcoming season.
