Neighborhood Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana is excited to announce the opening of a retail pharmacy at its Calhoun Street clinic. The goal of this expansion is to provide patients with an easy and seamless way to get the prescriptions they need. The pharmacy will accept all major insurance payers and offer affordable medications through the Neighborhood Health Pharmacy Drug Assistance Program for those who meet special financial requirements.

Andrea Mekonnen, Senior Pharmacy Director for Neighborhood Health, explained that in the past, patients had difficulty picking up their medications at other pharmacies. With the addition of a retail pharmacy, there will be better communication and collaboration between the pharmacy and healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the right medication at the right time.

The official opening of the pharmacy is scheduled for Friday, June 28 at 9:30 a.m. Neighborhood Health President and CEO Angie Zaegel noted that former Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry was committed to ensuring access to health care for the underserved and was excited about the pharmacy’s new location. The clinic originally planned to open a pharmacy in April, but the event was postponed due to Henry’s death. The clinic plans to honor him during a grand opening ceremony.

The retail pharmacy is currently open and operates on weekdays from 9 am to 7 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday it’s closed but available to everyone not just Neighborhood Health patients.
