Saginaw United High School is set to open its doors in the fall, and with it comes a new Great Lakes Bay School Health Center. The health center will be located on campus and will serve all Saginaw County students between the ages of 3 and 21. Similar to the existing centers at Saginaw High School and Arthur Hill High School, the new center will be a comprehensive primary care facility staffed by licensed professionals including a social worker, nurse practitioner, nurse director, nurse manager and other support staff.
The focus of health centers is on improving health outcomes and maintaining the health of students while they are at school. Services offered include treatment of acute and chronic diseases, sports physical activities and more. If a student becomes ill during class, they can visit the Health Center to receive care from the appropriate clinical staff. All services require parental consent, and the centers do not provide birth control, family planning services or discuss abortion options.
Currently, the health centers at Saginaw High School and Arthur Hill High School serve about 400 students
