The Vikings started Sunday night’s game with a turnover, but were able to come back and take a 10-9 halftime lead over Denver. On third-and-1, TJ Hockenson lined up under center and threw to Josh Dobbs who took the carry to his left. However, KB was hit hard and lost the football, allowing Denver to take an early lead.
Despite this setback, the Vikings made a concerted effort to run the ball. Alexander Mathison had 10 carries for 50 yards and Ty Chandler had 30 yards on six carries. Josh Dobbs was 11 of 13 for 126 yards with a touchdown. The Vikings had several rushing problems with Dobbs and center Garrett Bradbury, but the quarterback was able to recover from fumbling two of them to prevent turnovers.
The Broncos didn’t make much headway during the half, scoring twice in the second quarter. Despite being 0-of-5 on third down and having only five first downs, they managed just 16 yards. Russell Wilson was 13 of 17 for 132 yards, with Courtland Sutton leading the way with two catches for 38 yards. The Broncos will have the second half opener.
