Jill Johanson has been named the new director of science for the North Babylon School District. Her appointment will take effect on September 26.

Johansson brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as K-12 science and technology coordinator in Syosset Public Schools from September 2022 and as K-12 science director in Commack Public Schools from October 2020 to September 2022. Prior to that, she has held various positions in education, including science teacher and president in other Long Island school districts, beginning in 2000.

Johansson has an impressive education, with degrees in chemistry and biology from Bucknell University. She also earned a Master of Arts in Secondary Science Education from Columbia University Teachers College. Furthermore, he holds certifications in school building leadership and school district leadership from the College of Saint Rose.

Expressing her excitement about joining the North Babylon family, Johansson stated, “I am thrilled to be joining the North Babylon family and look forward to supporting all of the district’s students, their families and our teachers for years to come.
