At the Ong Bon Festival in Lai Thieu, many people were affected by food poisoning after consuming free bread and dumplings provided by a charity group. The festival took place on April 3rd in Lai Thieu Ward in Tuan An City, where attendees were given bread and dumplings to enjoy. However, following consumption of these products, many individuals experienced symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness and fatigue.

A total of 47 people, mostly young participants from the lion and dragon groups serving at the festival, were hospitalized for food poisoning. While 5 people with mild symptoms have been discharged, 42 people remain in the hospital for monitoring. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident and have taken food samples for testing.

The Ong Bon Pagoda Festival is an annual traditional Chinese event held in Binh Duong to honor pottery ancestors on the 25th day of the lunar calendar. The festival includes various rituals, processions, performances and activities such as lion and dragon dances. Ong Bon rotates annually among temples according to Chinese custom, leading to a festival every four years.
