In a thrilling matchup between the Orlando Magic and the New Orleans Pelicans, Paolo Banchero led the way with 32 points as the Magic emerged victorious in a 117-108 decision. Franz Wagner added 24 points, while Moritz Wagner scored 18 to help pave the way for the win. The victory marked Orlando’s third in a row, putting them just half a game ahead of the New York Knicks for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

On the other hand, CJ McCollum had an impressive performance for the Pelicans, scoring 36 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. However, despite his efforts, New Orleans lost their fourth game in five and dropped from fourth to sixth place in the Western Conference. During the game, Zion Williamson had a scary moment when Gary Harris accidentally tripped him, causing Williamson to briefly leave the game. Despite returning to play, Williamson spent most of his time on the bench and played just 29 minutes overall.

The Magic’s Wendell Carter Jr. had a standout performance with 14 points and 11 rebounds as he helped lead his team to victory. After trailing by as many as six points in the fourth quarter, Moritz Wagner’s free throws put Orlando ahead by 20 with just over three minutes left on the clock. Despite making it close down the stretch, New Orleans could not overcome Orlando’s defensive efforts and fell short of victory by nine points.

In addition to Williamson’s injury scare, Herb Jones, Trey Murphy III and Dyson Daniels were all ejected from the game for objecting to officials’ calls during crucial moments in regulation time. This was particularly frustrating for Pelicans fans who watched their team lose ground in both scoreboard positioning and overall momentum throughout much of Friday night’s matchup against their divisional rivals from Florida.

Moving forward into next week’s slate of games, Orlando will face off against Charlotte Hornets while New Orleans hosts San Antonio Spurs as part of a six-game homestand that is sure to be highly anticipated by both teams’ fan bases.

Overall, this was an intense battle between two well-matched teams with plenty at stake on both sides of things. While some fans may have been disappointed by certain events that took place during regulation time or afterword
