In the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, Ohio State’s No. 15 women’s basketball team defeated East Carolina by a score of 79-55. The Buckeyes were led by Jacey Sheldon, who scored 20 points, while Taylor Thierry added 14 points and eight rebounds. Ohio State’s next game will be against Oklahoma State.
In the first quarter, Ohio State got off to a strong start and took an early lead over East Carolina with their impressive play. They scored the game’s first 10 points and held a 21-11 advantage at the end of the quarter. However, East Carolina’s Sinia Johnson came back in the second quarter and scored eight of her 14 points to bring ECU within two points of Ohio State at halftime.
Despite this close call, Ohio State was able to regain their momentum in the second half and take control of the game once again. They scored 11 out of the first 13 points after halftime and ended up leading ECU by double digits for the rest of the matchup. Rebecca Mikulasikova had a standout performance for Ohio State, scoring 12 points on her own. Coty McMahon and Ricky Harris also contributed with impressive performances, each scoring 11 points. On East Carolina’s side, Johnson and Amiya Joyner were their top scorers with 14 and 12 points respectively.
Throughout the game, several technical fouls were issued including an ejection for East Carolina’s Jade Tillman following a hard foul in the third quarter. Despite these disruptions, Ohio State was able to maintain their composure and secure a convincing tournament victory over East Carolina with their strong play throughout
