The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the Mayo Clinic Health System have teamed up to offer a program that educates people about the medical field. This innovative program is open to a wide range of individuals, from high school and college students to working adults and retirees. Dr. Timothy Young of the Mayo Clinic Health System emphasized the inclusiveness of the program, stating that everyone is welcome to participate.

The program will be held for six consecutive Mondays at UW-Eau Claire, with a different topic presented each week, along with interactive activities aimed at giving participants a real-world insight into medical education. The ultimate goal of the program is to give people a taste of medical school and help them determine if pursuing a career in medicine is the right path for them.

Dr. Young added that no prior medical knowledge is assumed for participants. The program is designed to start with basic concepts and gradually build on them to provide a comprehensive understanding of the field of medicine. Through this program, participants are expected to gain valuable insights and learn about the inner workings of the human body.

Dr. Julie Anderson, director of UV-EC’s Health Career Center, expressed her excitement about the program and the opportunities it will offer students. With collaboration with Mayo Clinic Health System, students have access to employment opportunities, follow-up research opportunities, and other unique experiences in the medical field. The medical academy program is another exciting opportunity for students to get involved in this field.

The program will begin on April 1st, and more information about registration can be found on its website.

Overall, this collaboration between UW-Eau Claire and Mayo Clinic Health System aims to provide an enriching and educational experience for individuals interested in pursuing a career in medicine or learning more about it through hands-on activities and expert guidance from experienced professionals in this field.
