In Stowe, a pilot escaped injury Sunday morning immediately after a Globe War I-era plane crashed close to Burton Road and the American Heritage Museum. The plane, with only the pilot on board, crashed due to a malfunction in the front landing gear. Luckily, the pilot managed to get out of the aircraft unharmed. The Federal Aviation Administration is presently investigating the incident. Initial findings indicate that the collapse of the landing gear triggered the plane, a single-engine Nieuport 28, to flip onto its roof. Additional specifics are not offered at this time.
