Lions safety CJ Gardner-Johnson faces the possibility of an early season end. After Sunday’s overtime loss to the Seahawks, Gardner-Johnson is believed to have suffered a torn pectoral. Further testing and evaluation will be conducted in the coming days, but Gardner-Johnson’s return to action this year is questionable.

The news deals a major blow to the Lions’ defense, as they brought in Gardner-Johnson during the offseason to bolster their secondary. In addition, Gardner-Johnson caused excitement among the team’s fans by encouraging them to wear blue ski masks for the game against Seattle. Unfortunately, the planned result on the field did not materialize.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Gardner-Johnson has already collected an impressive 13 tackles. However, his absence will leave a significant void in the Lions’ defense.
