Public health is an essential aspect of the field of medicine and healthcare that is often overlooked. However, it becomes crucial during times of crisis, such as the Covid pandemic. To protect the health of all citizens, preventive measures and resources are necessary. This was emphasized at the meeting “Take care of your health” by Elena Andradas, General Director of Public Health of the Community of Madrid. She highlighted the importance of investing in prevention programs and maintaining updated information systems. Additionally, she stressed the need for training at all levels, especially for health workers.

Cooperation between different entities and private companies is vital in public health. Juan Carlos Gil, General Manager of Moderna for Spain and Portugal, emphasized the importance of investing in vaccine production and distribution to guarantee access to patients in Europe. As part of these efforts, Moderna has made significant investments in Spain and plans to continue doing so. Furthermore, collaboration with scientific societies and universities is essential to advancing public health initiatives.

Population acceptance of vaccines is crucial for prevention programs to be successful. Angel Gil de Miguel from the Ministry of Health’s Vaccine Advisory Committee emphasized the need to involve community and family medicine to improve vaccination rates among adults. Jaime Jesus Perez, president of the Spanish Association for Vaccination, also pointed out that constant observation and analysis of vaccination coverage are necessary to understand why certain populations are not vaccinated.

Vaccination has proven to be a cost-effective and life-saving measure, particularly in preventing death from influenza. The use of mRNA technology for Covid vaccines has led to advances in vaccine production and has the potential to provide solutions for various health conditions in the future. Strengthening public prevention and public health systems is essential to be prepared for future pandemics.

As experts remind us during this new Covid vaccination campaign, vaccination has saved millions of lives worldwide. It is critical that individuals understand the importance
