In recent months, both WhatsApp and Meta have been developing new features based on generative artificial intelligence for photo editing. One of the most notable features being developed by WhatsApp is the ability to modify the background of a photo and replace it with another, as well as transforming your style based on the user’s description. On the other hand, Meta has created new tools such as the Meta AI chatbot and Expressive Media Universe (EMU) that allows users to create stickers for messaging apps using text.

As part of their plans to incorporate these tools, Meta has also announced plans to bring two additional image editing tools based on generative artificial intelligence to Instagram. These tools include Restile, which applies visual styles based on descriptions, and Backdrop, which allows users to change the background based on their instructions. Both tools are expected to be brought to the WhatsApp platform soon, according to the latest version for Android.

The latest version of WhatsApp for Android includes a new button in the interface for sending photos, which offers options such as cropping, rotating photos, adding stickers and text, using the drawing tool, and more. Along with these options is a feature that allows users to modify backgrounds and resize images. However, it remains uncertain whether these features will be available for iOS devices in the future.
