There are rumors circulating that cornerback Stephon Gilmore may be considering a return to the Carolina Panthers. According to Joe Person of TheAthletic.com, the Panthers have reached out to Gilmore about the possibility of rejoining the team.

Gilmore, 33, previously played for the Panthers in the latter part of the 2021 season after being traded from the Patriots in exchange for a sixth-round pick. During his time with Carolina, he appeared in nine games with eight starts and totaled 16 tackles and two interceptions. After his time with the Panthers, Gilmore signed a two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts and started all 16 games in 2022. He was then traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, where he started all 17 games for the team and played in 94 percent of defensive snaps.

Gilmore’s impressive career spans over a decade and includes playing for several teams such as Bills, Patriots, Colts, Panthers and Cowboys. In total, he has played in 165 games and accumulated 140 passes defended with 31 interceptions. Currently ranked No. 51 on PFT’s list of top available free agents, Gilmore is highly sought after by many teams looking to bolster their defense on field.

The potential return of Gilmore to Carolina would bring tremendous value to any team willing to sign him due to his experience and skills on field.
