Scarlett Johansson, the two-time Oscar nominee, is in talks to join the Gareth Edwards-directed Jurassic World reboot at Universal. This news has been circulating for some time and now it seems that it is becoming a reality. In this new project, Johansson will become involved in another major film franchise, after her time as Black Widow in Marvel.

During the pandemic of Black Widow’s 2021 release, Johansson sued Disney after the studio decided to simultaneously release the film in theaters and on Disney+, affecting box office revenue. In the end, the two sides reached a settlement.

Universal is ramping up production on Jurassic World for a scheduled release date of July 2, 2025. David Capp, who previously adapted the first Jurassic Park film from Michael Crichton’s novel, is writing the script for this latest installment. The new film will bring a fresh perspective to the Jurassic era, with cast members from previous Jurassic World films such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard expected not to return. In addition, actors from the original Jurassic Park trilogy, including Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, are not expected to appear in the new film.

Jurassic World will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley producing under Kennedy-Marshall. Sarah Scott, executive vice president of production development, and Jacqueline Garrel, creative executive director of production development, oversee production at Universal Studios.
