World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a non-profit organization that delivers food to civilians in Gaza. Unfortunately, the organization recently lost seven employees who were killed in Israeli airstrikes. These employees were returning from a mission when the strike occurred, according to a statement from VCK General Manager Erin Gore.

On March 12, a ship with 200 tons of food left for Gaza, and more food is planned. The death of VCK employees was mourned by their friends and relatives, as well as by the wider humanitarian community. The organization recently sent food shipments to Gaza, and employees delivered over 100 tons of food shortly before the incident.

Among those killed were Saifeddin Issam Aidan Abutaha, Lalzawami Frankcom, Damian Sobol, Jacob Flickinger, John Chapman, James Henderson and James Kirby. Abutaha, Frankcom, Sobol and Flickinger were part of the VCK relief team, while Chapman, Henderson and Kirby were part of the VCK security team. Employees were leaving a warehouse in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza when the strike occurred.

Israel’s prime minister expressed regret over the incident, calling it a “tragic event” and an “unintended attack.” VCK founder Jose Andres called on the Israeli government to stop the indiscriminate killing and prevent the loss of more innocent lives.
