HEATH — The field is officially set for the Division III state track and field championships.
Regional action wrapped up across the Buckeye State and at least 5 location men and women and 1 relay group have survived two levels of postseason action and are officially headed to Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium for the state meet, which opens subsequent Friday.
Shadyside, who won the county title in Newcomerstown final week, went to Heath Higher College and place in yet another impressive work to finish with 37 points to claim the regional runner-up trophy.
The Tigers got most of their scoring in the two hurdles thanks to Brothers Booth.
In all, they scored a combined 22 in the tree disciplines.
For the second weekend in a row, Dylan Booth was particularly impressive. The junior won the regional title in the higher hurdles, clearing the ten hurdles in a private-very best 14.78.
He came back a tiny later and added a bronze medal in the middle hurdles with a strong score of 40.98.
His twin brother, Nathan, returns to state immediately after clocking 14.85 to finish third.
Tiger senior Kooper Chimley will compete at the state meet in the 400-meter dash. He rounded the Heath oval in an impressive 50.26 to win the silver medal.
Shadyside’s 4×4 group of Booth, Isaac Green, Booth and Chimley dropped much more than 5 seconds in the course of Wednesday’s qualifying round to take fourth in three:30.25.
Bellaire junior Maison Sochor returns to the state meet in the 110 higher hurdles. Sochor completed second in the higher hurdles with a season-very best time of 14.83.
The lone Division III lady nonetheless practicing this week is Bellaire freshman Alison Wingia.
The talented discus thrower showed a robust outcome in the final to fight for the bronze medal. She launched the discus to a mark of 120-ft-four on her final throw of the competitors.
Caldwell’s Gwyn Laurie won the regional title in the occasion with a mark of 126-two.
