Croatian IT company Span recently acquired 100 percent ownership of Bonsai, a software and AI solutions company, through the purchase of its remaining 30 percent business share. The transaction value was EUR 750,000. With this acquisition, Span merged Bonsai into its own operations and also plans to merge its related company Ekobit.

The integration of Bonsai and Ekobit into Span will allow the company to enhance its offering of cloud, cyber security, and AI solutions. The goal is to present a cohesive and unique brand on the market. Artificial intelligence has been identified as a key strategic focus for Span moving forward.

According to Nikola Dujmovi, general director of Span, artificial intelligence is no longer just a topic of conversation but is actively being integrated into businesses. The merger will strengthen Span’s AI offering in key business segments and is expected to generate significant profits in the future.

Businesses are exploring how AI-based solutions can improve operations and processes, and the availability of generative artificial intelligence is accelerating this process. The target date for the merger to become effective is the end of the second quarter of 2024, after which Bonsai and Ekobit will operate under the single Span brand.
