In 2013, St. Paul artist Ta-coumba T was approached by the city to create the world’s largest Lite Brite at Union Depot. Aiken, who played with Lite Brite as a child, was thrilled at the opportunity and enlisted over 500 volunteers to help him put together the massive piece.
The finished artwork, which measures 24 feet wide and 8 feet tall, is called Forever St. Pavle and consists of approximately 598,986 pieces. It broke the Guinness World Record for the largest Lite Brite and showcased Aiken’s skill and love for art. Despite having a love-hate relationship with the toy as a child due to an incident where he burned his finger trying to change a light bulb, Aiken turned this experience into a huge art project that is now on display in St. Paul.
