The Florida Department of Health, Marion County (DOH-Marion) invites seniors 55 and older to attend the Stay Healthy As You Age class on Thursday, February 22, 2024. This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Marion Oaks Community Center, located at 280 Marion Oaks Lane in Ocala, FL 34473.

As part of American Heart Month, DOH-Marion encourages all Floridians to adopt a lifestyle that promotes heart health and wellness. This includes maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, adding physical activity to your weekly schedule, and eating nutritious foods that support a healthy cardiovascular system. Heart disease is the leading cause of death nationally as well as in Florida.

In partnership with Marion County Senior Services, DOH-Marion is offering this class to help seniors promote healthy aging. The class aims to provide participants with ways to improve their overall health and wellbeing by maintaining a positive attitude, eating a nutritious diet, engaging in regular physical activity, having regular medical checkups, stimulating their brain with mental exercises and leading an active social life.

There is no need to register in advance for the class. For more information about this exciting opportunity or any other questions you may have, please contact Melissa Marino at 352-644-2624.
