The Stevens Institute of Technology has been awarded $7.5 million from the New Jersey budget for 2024-2025 to advance its computer science and artificial intelligence programs. This funding is divided into two parts, with $5.75 million allocated for the university and $1.75 million for their artificial intelligence institute.
Stevens President Nariman Farwardin expressed his excitement about the funding and thanked Governor Murphy and several state senators and members of the assembly for their support and recognition of the importance of artificial intelligence and computer science in New Jersey’s economic future.
With this investment, Stevens will be able to accommodate more students in these dynamic disciplines, increase research efforts, and strengthen collaboration with industry partners. The institute has seen significant growth in recent years, with increases in undergraduate and postgraduate applications as well as research awards.
Farwardin said that this allocation is a significant step forward in meeting the demand for AI education and research. Stevens looks forward to using this investment to continue providing the technology talent and innovation that drives New Jersey’s economy.
