As the excitement builds for Super Bowl LVIII, New Hampshire sports bettors are heavily favoring Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs over Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers. According to DraftKings, nearly 72% of bets placed by New Hampshire gamblers as of Thursday favored the Chiefs, who are currently under two points as of Friday. A total of $1.6 million has already been wagered on the game through DraftKings, which has a gambling monopoly in New Hampshire.
The opportunity to explore the world of sports betting is one that Charlie McIntyre, CEO of the New Hampshire Lottery, is excited about. He believes there are plenty of fun ways to get involved and expects heavy betting over the weekend and ahead of Sunday’s game. The partnership between the New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings has been successful in building strong betting momentum.
In addition to traditional football-related bets, DraftKings has introduced Taylor Swift-related bets, capitalizing on the reputation of the “new romantics.” Swifties can place bets related to her songs such as “Deja Vu,” “Shake it off,” and “Today is a Fairy Tale” each with specific conditions and outcomes related to the Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and 49ers.
Last year when the Chiefs beat Philadelphia Eagles, New Hampshire gamblers placed over $9 million in total bets. This year profits from sports betting revenue will be shared between DraftKings and state which will be used by Lottery to fund public education. Superbowl LVIII is scheduled to begin this Sunday at 6:30 PM from Las Vegas.
