In an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election, former US President Donald Trump has appealed to the Supreme Court a lower court ruling that he does not have immunity from prosecution. On February 6, the D.C. Court of Appeals ruled that any immunity in effect during a presidential term does not provide protection from future criminal prosecution. The decision on the issue of immunity will now be made by nine judges of the Supreme Court, three of whom were appointed by Trump during his term as president.
