Dr. Ashfaq Turk, a cardiologist, emphasizes the impact of lifestyle modifications on reducing the risk of heart attack, high blood pressure, and diabetes. These modifications include not smoking or using tobacco, maintaining an ideal body weight, exercising regularly, and eating a healthy diet low in saturated fat. By making these changes, individuals can work towards improving their heart health and reducing their risk of heart-related problems.

St. Joseph’s Health System provides comprehensive care for people who have experienced a heart attack or open heart surgery. This includes a rehabilitation program that focuses on lifestyle modifications such as nutrition education and supervised exercise programs to support ongoing heart health. The health system also offers hands-on CPR classes to their patients to ensure they are ready to respond if someone has a heart attack in their presence.

To participate in the cardiac rehabilitation program at Saint Joseph Health System, individuals must be referred by a cardiologist. By taking a proactive approach to heart health through lifestyle modifications and seeking medical care when needed, individuals can work towards reducing their risk of heart-related problems and improving their overall well-being.
