According to new research, the integration of technology in restaurants has become a crucial factor in maintaining a competitive edge. While 76% of restaurant operators believe that technology gives them an advantage, many feel they could do more to stay current with the latest trends.

The study revealed that customers appreciate options that make ordering and payment for meals more convenient and efficient. For example, 7 out of 10 adults actively search for deals when ordering takeout, delivery, or dining out. In the full-service segment, most customers are open to using tablets at their tables to order or pay for their meals. On the other hand, 7 out of 10 customers in the limited service segment are likely to use smartphone apps to order food, while 8 out of 10 delivery customers prefer to order through these apps.

Restaurant operators have an opportunity to improve customer experience, boost marketing efforts and work more efficiently through technology integration. While most operators view technology as the core of their business rather than cutting edge innovation, finding the right balance between convenience and hospitality is key. By understanding what technologies customers want and where operators plan to invest in technology integration, businesses can stay ahead of the curve in today’s competitive market.
