Justin Thomas has announced that he and caddy Jim “Bones” McKay will be parting ways just a week before the Masters. Thomas expressed his gratitude for the time they spent together, acknowledging their many victories, including the 2022 PGA Championship, Presidents Cup and Rider Cups. He thanked McKay for his unwavering support and wisdom both on and off the course, especially during difficult times in his career.

Thomas has enlisted veteran caddy Matt Minister, who previously worked with Patrick Cantlay, to carry his bag at the upcoming Masters tournament. Before McKay, Thomas worked with veteran caddy Jimmy Johnson. Despite their big win together in 2022, Thomas experienced a rough patch in his career last season that saw him miss the FedExCup playoffs and claim the Ryder Cup captain’s pick. Recently, Thomas has shown signs of improvement with eight top 12 finishes since last fall. He continues to work on his swing with his father, Mike, and has made strides in his approach to the game. However, his putting performance remains a challenge.

McKay wished Thomas well in his future endeavors and expressed belief that they both have a promising future ahead of them. Thomas reciprocated by wishing McKay and his family all the best as he embarks on new adventures as an on-course commentator for NBC’s amateur magazine at Augusta National Golf Club.
