Immigration has always been a topic of wide debate that attracts significant attention both nationally and in our local communities. Recently, Congress has been examining the impact of immigrants on our economy, recognizing the importance of migration in shaping our social landscape. Namely, New York is currently facing the effort of adapting to the recent influx of migrants, which has strained available resources.

On border control, Republicans have consistently pressed the Biden administration, emphasizing the need for effective immigration and border management policies and measures. Reflecting these concerns, a judge recently ruled against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The program, which was meant to protect young immigrants, known as Dreamers, from deportation and provide them with work permits has come under scrutiny and faced legal challenges.

Recognizing the complexity of the issue, a recent congressional hearing saw senators address the economic impact of immigration. They examined how the presence of immigrants, especially Dreamers who were brought to the United States as children, affects our broader economic landscape. This research highlighted the importance of understanding and managing immigration in a way that supports our economy and addresses humanitarian concerns.
