The European Union (EU) has implemented its new digital market regulation, the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which took effect last year. This law aims to regulate the world’s largest digital companies, including Google’s parent company Alphabet, Meta (formerly Facebook) and Apple. These companies had until March 7 to make changes to their operations in compliance with the regulations. Despite their claims of compliance, the EU remained unconvinced and launched an investigation on March 25, which could result in fines of up to 10 percent of their global turnover.
