In preparation for the upcoming 2024 MLB season, El Modena High School in Orange, California has recently unveiled a new addition to its campus. This new facility, known as the Freddie Freeman Club, was made possible in part by a generous $500,000 donation from the former MVP himself.

The new clubhouse spans 1,440 square meters and features a locker room, a team meeting area equipped with monitors, a trainer’s office and expanded batting cages. The Dodgers and Freeman shared images of the facility on Instagram, showcasing the locker room and a large mural depicting Freeman in a Vanguard school uniform, along with a list of his accomplishments.

Freeman’s donation was the largest amount ever contributed by a single private donor in Orange Unified School District history. The county put up the remaining $1.1 million to make Freeman’s vision a reality.

During his time at El Modena, Freeman excelled in college baseball both as a hitter and pitcher. His impressive stats included a .417 batting average with five home runs and 10 stolen bases while also carrying out six pitching wins with an ERA of 1.27 and 59 strikeouts in just 44 innings pitched. He was recognized as the Orange Register Player of the Year in 2007 for his talent on the field which eventually led him to be selected by Atlanta Braves in second round of that year’s draft.

The El Modena baseball team has had recent success posting an impressive record of 14-12-1 last year following strong performance with 22-10 mark in previous season. This dedication to the clubhouse marks an important milestone for the school and its baseball program, honoring the legacy of one of its most celebrated alumni – Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman himself.
