Rasie Erasmus, South Africa’s director of rugby, has denied rumors that he will join the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to replace outgoing director of overall performance David Nucifora. Nucifora is set to leave the IRFU right after the Planet Cup.
Erasmus has categorically stated that he will not go to Ireland to replace Nucifora, dismissing speculation sparked by former Springbok Victor Matfield’s comments about Erasmus potentially joining Ireland right after the Planet Cup. Regardless of fellow South African coach Jacques Nyenaber leaving for Dublin, Erasmus confirmed he has not spoken to the IRFU about a possible move.
Ahead of their match against Ireland in Paris, Erasmus expressed his concentrate on the game and dismissed any concept of a move to Ireland. Each South Africa and Ireland won their 1st two pool stage matches, with Ireland beating Romania and Tonga and South Africa beating Scotland and Romania.
