A bear spotted in a tree at Walt Disney World Park in Orlando has led to the closure of several rides and attractions. The bear was seen near the Big Thunder roller coaster in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, as reported by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FVC). FVC biologists suggest the bear was probably foraging because at this time of year bears tend to accumulate fat reserves for the winter. It is usually best practice to allow the bear enough space and time to move around on its own. However, due to the presence of bears in a crowded theme park, FVC staff are currently working to capture and relocate the bears.
As a result of the bear sighting, Disney’s official My Disney Experience app listed several attractions as temporarily closed. These include Big Thunder Mountain, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Aladdin’s Magic Carpets, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Tree House, Under the Sea – Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Walt Disney World Railroad and the Enchanted Walt Disney Tiki Room. This precaution ensures the safety of park visitors and staff.
