The Saints running back Alvin Kamara has left mandatory minicamp due to dissatisfaction with his contract. This has left everyone wondering whether he will show up for training camp. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there is a possibility that Kamara may be held out of camp. However, since Kamara is on another contract, the daily no-show penalties for camp cannot be waived. This means that the Saints will have to collect money from him whenever he decides to show up.
Kamara currently has a base salary of $10.2 million for this year, but things get complicated in 2025 when his compensation package increases to $25 million. The Saints are expected to rework his contract after the upcoming season. Kamara wants more money and job security before the 2024 campaign begins. Both sides have been making efforts to negotiate a revised agreement, but have yet to reach a compromise. If a deal isn’t reached before the start of training camp, the big question will be whether Kamara decides to show up or continue to hold out.
