The California Science Center recently unveiled its Samuel Oschin Aerospace Gallery Work in Progress, giving visitors a sneak peek at the incredible artifacts and displays planned for the new 200,000-square-foot aerospace center. The building is more than half complete and will significantly increase the center’s exhibit space.
One of the highlights of the new center is the space shuttle Endeavour, which is the only space shuttle in the world placed in a vertical position ready for launch. In addition to the shuttle, the gallery displays other fascinating exhibits such as the Dragon cargo spacecraft that made multiple trips to the International Space Station and the Electron rocket built by Rocket Lab in Long Beach.
The aim of the gallery is to ignite curiosity and inspire visitors to learn more about space exploration, as well as encourage the next generation of scientists and engineers. Linda Oschin, president of the Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Oschin Family Foundation, expressed her excitement about the center being named in honor of her late husband, Samuel Oschin, who was a major donor.
