Travis Hawkes Appointed General Manager of Learfield’s Coyote Sports Properties: Bringing Expertise and Innovation to South Dakota Athletics

Travis Hawkes, a seasoned business development expert, has been appointed as the general manager of Learfield’s Coyote Sports Properties. The multimedia rights holder and sports marketing for University of South Dakota athletics will benefit from his extensive experience in strategy, relationship building, and team leadership.

Prior to joining USD, Hawkes served as Senior Business Development Manager at Wyoming Sports Properties where he exceeded sales goals and established strong relationships with various partners. During his tenure at Wyoming, he created innovative sponsorship packages that expanded the company’s network and aligned their brands with the University of Wyoming’s fan base. His accomplishments at Learfield include being part of the Learfield Chairman’s Club for 2022-23, winning the 2023 Executive of the Year Award and achieving multiple sales goals.

Jarren Duffy, South Dakota’s assistant athletic director for fan engagement, praised Hawkes for his track record in building relationships and creative solutions. Duffy noted that fans can expect new and exciting game day activations this season thanks to the Hawks and his team at Coyote Sports Properties. Prior to working at Learfield, Hawkes gained valuable experience with professional baseball teams where he drove revenue growth and increased game day attendance for the Helena Brewers and Mobile BayBears.

Britney Smith, assistant director of communications at USD made the announcement about Hawkes’ appointment stating that she believes he will help take Coyote Sports Properties and South Dakota athletics to new heights with his expertise in business development, strategy, relationship building and team leadership.
