Tyrone midfielder Con Kilpatrick was cleared of a proposed two-match ban, allowing him to play in Saturday’s preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final against Roscommon at Healy Park. The decision was made by the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee on Friday night, after Kilpatrick received a red card during last weekend’s match against Cork.
Kilpatrick had been facing a suspension due to this being his second straight red card of the year, having also been sent off in the previous game against Roscommon. However, the Central Appeals Committee has now ruled in his favor, deeming him fit to take on Roscommon.
Tyrone fans will be relieved to hear that Kilpatrick’s presence in midfield is crucial to the team’s success in the upcoming fixture. Despite being cleared earlier this week by the Central Hearings Committee, Kilpatrick was facing a two-match suspension that would have seen him miss not only this weekend’s game but potentially next week’s quarter-final if Tyrone progressed. However, with this decision, he will now be able to play an important role in leading Tyrone to victory over Roscommon.
