The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that talks between Universal and director David Leitch have broken down, ending his involvement in the new Jurassic film. It was announced last week that Leitch would direct the film, which is set to be released on July 2, 2025. However, it has now been revealed that Leitch’s departure is due to a difference in vision and was said to have been amicable.
Universal is moving forward with a new Jurassic World movie, and the screenwriter of the original Jurassic Park, David Koepp, is also working on a new film. The franchise plans to usher in a “new Jurassic era,” suggesting that the characters played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the previous Jurassic World films will not be returning.
Leitch is known for his work on films such as Deadpool 2, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shav and the upcoming Fall Guy. This news was first reported by Deadline.
