On Tuesday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela registered Eduardo González Urrutia as a candidate for the July 28 presidential election at the Round Table of Democratic Unity. This decision came after the coalition failed to nominate Corina Joris, the chosen candidate of Maria Corina Machado who was disqualified from the competition.

Despite efforts to register Ioris throughout the process, the coalition admitted they had exhausted all options to do so by the deadline. As a result, the PUD decided to temporarily register Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia to ensure the preservation of their political rights until they are able to register their candidate. This decision was made in order to continue participation in the electoral process and go to the elections in 2024.
