Mike Giles, who served in the military for 20 years and has prior experience, has been promoted from Assistant Vice President of Operations to Vice President of Operations and Technology at West Georgia Technical College (VGTC). Giles joined VGTC in 2009 as director of facilities and has since advanced to roles such as executive director of facilities and assistant vice president of facilities. During his 15-year tenure, he played a key role in merging two college departments and overseeing significant construction projects at Douglas, Coveta, Carroll, Haralson and Troup counties.

Dr. Julie Post, President of VGTC, expressed her pleasure in working with Giles, praising his creativity and effective leadership in driving significant changes to the College’s facilities and operations. She acknowledged his dedication and praised his ability to raise the bar for facility sharing, team dynamics and infrastructure. In his new role as vice president of operations and technology, Giles will oversee the facilities department, information technology department and campus bookstore operations.

Giles expressed his excitement about his new role, stating that he looks forward to being involved in the discussions and planning of new programs and space requirements. He sees it as an opportunity to better understand the direction of the organization and to contribute to the achievement of its goals. He sees his role as a way of giving back to the college that has given him so much, using his skills and knowledge to help achieve the goals of VGTC.
