The Core77 Design Awards 2023 have announced the winners for the Consumer Technology category. The Meta Quest 3, a VR/MR headset and controller from Meta, has been named the professional winner in this category. On the other hand, Avare, a device designed by a team from Umeå Institute of Design that warns runners of cars and bikes approaching from behind, has won the student entry award.

The jury captain for this year’s consumer technology category was Kin Li, vice president of design at fuseproject. The jury also included Roger Kellenberger, Yujin Nam, Tingbin Tang and Diane Wilberding. Awards are given to consumer software or hardware products for home or personal use that are display-based, technology-enabled or Internet-connected.
