In an interview with the British tabloid The Sun, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his concerns about the possibility of World War III. He believes that Russia’s involvement in conflicts around the world and its refusal to stop unless pressured by the US and China could lead to a global escalation.
Zelensky highlighted Russia’s role in training Hamas militants and its partnership with Iran, suggesting that Vladimir Putin is deliberately fomenting conflicts that could spiral out of control. He emphasized the importance of China’s role in putting pressure on Russia, noting that China is not interested in the Middle East like Russia and Iran.
In addition to the threat posed by Russia, Zelensky acknowledged that Ukraine faces challenges in gaining the support of the US Congress and that it is unable to defend itself without the help of Western countries. He emphasized the implications of a potential defeat by Russia, warning that NATO countries could be next if Ukraine falls.
Zelensky’s statements underscore the urgent need for international support in preventing further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and deterring Russia from further aggression.
