Southern Illinois University Carbondale is partnering with the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce to host a special event during Saluki Startup, an annual festival for new and returning students held in August. The event, called Taste of Carbondale, will take place on August 14 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in the SIU Student Services Building Pavilion.

Organizers are currently seeking local businesses to sponsor the event and participate in the celebration. During Taste of Carbondale, Salukis and their families will have the chance to sample a variety of delicious food and beverages from local establishments. While food and beverage businesses are at the forefront, all types of local businesses are welcome to become sponsors. Sponsors will have the opportunity to engage with attendees at the event.

Taste of Carbondale is an extension of orientation and engagement opportunities for new Salukis, allowing them to get more familiar with campus life, make new friends, and experience more of SIU before classes begin. Sponsorship packages start at $500 and will help cover the cost of providing food samples. Sponsors will also have their company logos on the Taste of Carbondale website and may have additional promotional opportunities.

Businesses interested in becoming sponsors for Taste of Carbondale should contact William Law at the Chamber of Commerce by May 31. He can be reached at 618-549-2146 or vlo@carbondalechamber.com.
