The Economic Forum for Financial, Industrial and Commercial Partnerships between Jordan, Iraq and the Region was officially opened on Sunday by the Jordanian Investment Minister Kholud Al-Saqaf. This forum, organized by the Iraqi Business Council in cooperation with the Chamber of Industry of Jordan and Amman, takes place over two days at the King Hussein Convention Center in the Dead Sea region. It is considered one of the largest regional Jordanian-Iraqi business meetings.
During the opening ceremony, Al-Sakkaf emphasized the importance of building economic interconnection and strengthening cooperation in various sectors to create sustainable partnerships for regional integration. She also highlighted that this forum aims to deepen mutual understanding between participating countries and establish a vision for future development in the region.
Al-Sakkaf also spoke about the new law on investment environment in Jordan, which provides equal rights and obligations for foreign and domestic investors. The law includes provisions such as stability of legislation, preservation of acquired rights of investors, duty exemptions, tax rebates and incentives for activities aimed at export markets, high added value activities, knowledge transfer and employment of Jordanian workers. Moreover, it allows for establishment of investment funds to attract investment capital from institutions.
The forum sessions will focus on highlighting investment opportunities in Jordan and Iraq, exploring commercial prospects in both countries, considering opportunities to participate in investments in the region, examining role of banking sector in providing facilities for different sectors
