Discovering the Nanoworld: Delta College’s Eyes of Science exhibit Brings Microscopy to Life

Delta College’s Eyes of Science exhibit provided insight into the world of electron microscopy during a recent free open house. Jose Jimenez, instructor of the program, explained that they use powerful Hitachi-mentored microscopes to observe the cellular structure of atoms and explore the nanoworld.

The program has attracted a diverse group of individuals from the local community, with 20 students enrolled this semester. Students like Logan Gorham have found their passion in microscopy, while Cassidy Altimari appreciates the proximity and affordability of the program. The placement rates within the program and the diverse opportunities offered in fields such as biological sciences, pharmacy and materials sciences make it an attractive choice for aspiring scientists.

Graduates have seen significant increases in their earnings, reflecting the value and impact of the training they received in Delta College’s electron microscopy program. Rachelien Trinh, program director, aims to expand the campus to accommodate more students and fill more positions, changing the educational landscape at Delta College.
