Rome Health Tackles Growing Demand for Care with $45.7 Million Expansion Project

Rome Health is currently working on a $45.7 million project to improve health services in the Mohawk Valley. The aim of this project is to meet the growing demand for care in the region. The addition will include a three-story, 30,000-square-foot expansion that will replace the old operating rooms and intensive care units, ensuring that patients receive care according to modern standards.

Since 2019, Rome Health has seen an increase in the number of patients seeking services, with all services increasing by almost 30% during that time. This growth has highlighted the need for a new project to respond to the growing demand for care. By modernizing facilities and creating a seamless flow from pre-procedure to post-procedure care, Rome Health aims to improve efficiency and expand its patient capacity.

The project will result in updated operating theaters and intensive care units, keeping the same number of facilities but bringing them up to new and modern standards. This investment is part of ongoing progress at Rome Health, which has undertaken several major projects over the past four years. Rome Health’s goal is to ensure that the community has access to necessary health services in a sustainable manner.

Funding for the project comes from a combination of public and private sources, including a $26 million New York State Transformation grant and $3 million in ARPA funds from the City of Rome. With nearly $44 million raised through public funding and private philanthropy, Rome Health is close to reaching its capital campaign fundraising goal. The hospital remains committed to providing quality care to the community while continuously improving its facilities and services.
