The Kentucky Science Trail is a unique journey through the natural and technological wonders of the state. Started by the Kentucky Academy of Science (KAS) in 2014, this trail features over 70 science attractions that showcase the diverse landscape of Kentucky. From museums and night sky viewing sites to engineering marvels and geological tours, there’s something for everyone on this exciting trail.

Amanda Fuller, executive director of KAS, emphasizes the importance of this initiative. “Our goal is to encourage families and individuals to explore these attractions and foster a curiosity and passion for learning about the world around them,” she said. “We want people to be inspired by what they see here and go back home with a new appreciation for science and nature.”

To make it easy for visitors to explore the trail, KAS provides descriptions and links to each attraction on their website, as well as an interactive map that allows users to easily locate nearby attractions. Some of the highlights in Northern Kentucky include the Newport Aquarium, Boone County Arboretum, Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, and the Boone County Geology Tour.

The Kentucky Academy of Sciences is a nonprofit organization founded in 1914 with the goal of promoting scientific communication and collaboration to advance evidence-based research, education, and public engagement. With its commitment to fostering curiosity about science and nature, KAS continues to inspire generations of scientists and explorers who are passionate about discovering new knowledge about our world.
