Google has confirmed that its generative artificial intelligence (AI) model, the Gemini Nano, will soon be available on the standard version of the Pixel 8 smartphone family, starting in June. The Gemini Nano is the smallest version of Google’s Large Language Models (LLM) and is optimized to run generative artificial intelligence directly on the device, similar to the Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

Previously, it was thought that LLM would not make it to the Pixel 8 due to hardware limitations. However, Google’s vice president of devices and software services, Seang Chau, has now confirmed that the smartphone-friendly LLM will indeed reach the Pixel 8. The expected release date for this feature is June along with new functionalities from Android 14 KPR3.

In a developer preview, new features like “Summary” in the recording tool and Gboard Smart Replay will be available on the Pixel 8. This announcement was made on the Made by Google Podcast, indicating that these tools will be available in the coming several months.
